The mover of the removal of the age limit bill, Raphael Magyezi is facing the wrath of his electorates over a move to elevate Kyamuhunga and Bitooma sub counties into a municipality.
Some of the electorates who are opposed to the municipality have threatened to drag the Igara West legislator to court claiming they are not ready the meet the taxes that are likely to be imposed on them should government consider Magyezi’s proposal.
Ever since Magyezi revealed his support for the elevation of Kyamuhunga town council and Bitooma Sub County into a municipality many people have opposed it.
The fire spitting locals said they voted forMagyezi to lobby for them services including water extension, health centres, roads and electricity but not a municipality.
In fact some of the health centres that whose construction had been pushed by Hon Magyezi have since stalled.
Besides, some of the residents said Magyezi had never consulted them about his proposal to include them in the municipality.
Kyamuhunga and Bitooma sub counties are entirely known for growing matooke, coffee and tea but majority of the locals are poor.
The said government shouldn’t go ahead to approve a municipality because they won’t be able to fund the budget that will be required to run it.
Last month, a section of Igara West voters petitioned the deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah indicating that they are opposed to the proposed Kyamuhunga-Bitooma Municipality.
Magyezi told us that the residents opposed to the move wasting their time.
Some of the voters have now resolved to take him to court to bar him from what they termed as ill political motives.
