Kadaga to make first public appearance today after a month away

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga is expected to make her first public appearance since he return from Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi where she had been admitted over illness.

According to an alert to journalists, Kadaga will be launching the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference website today at the August house.

“At 11am, the Rt.Hon. Speaker will launch the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference website in her boardroom. The launch of the website is one of the activities slated ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth conference taking place in Uganda,” reads in part the alert to journalists.

Kadaga fell ill on March 21 before being rushed to Nakasero hospital where she was placed under intensive watch and according to her Principal Press Secretary, Sam Obbo, the speaker was suffering from fatigue a10-day hectic working tour to Morocco and the United States of America.

She was later flown to Aga Khan Hospital in Kenya for further management.

In a statement released on April 7, Kadaga said she was now getting better and would soon return and resume her duties.

“I am glad to report that due to God’s Mercy and untiring efforts of doctors in Uganda and Kenya, I do now have a better bill of health,”Kadaga said in the statement.

“Contrary to rumours in the press and social media, I am neither in Spain nor in critical condition. Reporting facts on matters of public concern and holding onto the highest journalistic standards is a tenet I urge our media to uphold. I also urge them and the public to always seek information from official channels, and to desist from reporting biased and false information.”

On April 13, she returned from Kenya and is expected to resume business at the August house next month.
