President Museveni to open Muslim Youth Conference

The President of the Republic of Uganda Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will officially open an international Muslim Youth conference scheduled for 26th - 27th April 2019 at Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala.

This was revealed by H.E the 2nd Deputy Mufti of Uganda Shk. Muhamad Waiswa during a press conference held Tuesday at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala.

The conference is organised by Uganda Muslim Supreme Council in conjunction with the World Muslim Communities Council under the theme; “Role of Muslim Youths in the Africa of Tomorrow”.

The conference will be graced with 500 participants and Muftis from 25 African countries including the host country Uganda.

Among the countries that have confirmed participation are; Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Malawi, DR Congo, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Senegal, Mozambique, Egypt and South Africa.

The aim of the conference is to raise awareness among Muslim youths about the significance of their role in the sustainable development of Africa.

“Participants will also draw lessons of peaceful co-existence of members of different faith groups based on Uganda’s success story of the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda-IRCU” Sheikh Waiswa said.

The muftis will also hold a side meeting under their umbrella organisation; African Forum for Muslim Councils (AFMC) whose head office is at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala.
