Azulato Children's Festival is back for second edition

The Azulato Children's Festival - organised by Goethe Zentrum Kampala/Ugandan German Cultural Society - is back for the second edition.

During its first edition in May 2018, it successfully captured the imagination of Kampala's children and their families.

More hands on activities, interactive workshops and performances are to be expected this year, the organisers said.

The aim of the festival is to promote the Arts and Sciences as an immersive learning experience for children to develop their talents and grow their self - confidence.

"Azulato Children's Festival aims to awaken children's creativity and imagination and make them have a positive and exciting experience, in order to engage and interest them in Arts and Sciences long term. We are looking forward to welcome all children and their families to a Sunday full of creativity, fun and excitement on 28th April, 2019," said Barbara Sommer, the director of Goethe Zentrum Kampala.

Children will participate in activities such as drum circles, beat boxing and dance workshops, capoeira, story telling, mural painting, poetry, drawing, learning about digital animation, among others.

Entrance will be free.

Martin from Mad Scientist, who are part of the organisers of Azulato Children's Festival said: "The mainstream education system of our local schools simply prepares learners to pass exams. It does what we call, test prep. It doesn't give learners the skills they require for successful careers, and for active and informed citizenship, skills vital for one's survival in the 21st century's global innovation economy. The question is: How do we trigger passion for learning within students? How do we make schools more attractive to kids than their own homes?"

The event will take place on 28th April, 2019 at Seven Trees Gardens - Kololo from noon to 7pm with a free entry to all.
