URA impose heavy tax on non-poisonous Vipers to further dent their title hopes

It was a bad Friday for defending champions Vipers Sports Cub as tax collectors Uganda Revenue Authority took chance of Jesus’ crucifixion to do the same to the Kitende based team in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Skipper Shafik Kagimu and eventual man of the match, Victor Kilama were the heroes for the day on a bad Friday as the tax collectors tormented Vipers at their own fortress.

Capitalizing on a pass from Saidi Kyeyune, the URA skipper smashed the ball home for the visitors to take the lead on 25 minutes at St.Mary’s Stadium on a Friday afternoon to end the first stanza leading by a goal to nil.

In the 60th minute, the tax collectors were back on the Vipers’ door for more taxes when Kilama tapped the ball into the back of the net for the Kitende based stadium.

The hosts however responded with a goal when Diego Hamis Kiiza converted a spot kick after Innocent Wafula had been fouled in the 18 yard box.

The win ensured URA’s unbeaten run away from home remains but on the other side Vipers continued to blow away their chances to retain this year’s league title.

URA consolidated their third position on 46 points whereas Vipers remained second, 50 points, 6 adrift table leaders KCCA FC who will have a chance to widen the gap to 9 points with a win against Express FC later today, Saturday.

The Kasasiro boys need only four out of the possible 12 points in their remaining four matches to lift the league title.
