MP Anita Among refuses to vacate COSASE office

The woman MP for Bukedea District and former Vice Chairperson of the Committee of Commissions, Statutory Authority and State Enterprises (COSASE), Anita Among has refused to vacate office for her successor Ibrahim Kasozi (Makindye West).

In February, outgoing COSASE chairperson Abdu Katuntu handed over office to newly appointed Mubarak Munyagwa, so was Among also supposed to hand over to Kasozi who was appointed to replace her.

The said office is located on the first floor of parliament to the northern wing.

Efforts from Munyagwa to secure office for his vice chairperson Ibrahim Kasozi have been futile which has prompted the opposition chief whip to write to Among instructing that she leaves office henceforth to allow other members execute their work.

Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye East), one of the COSASE members was heard complaining how Among has frustrated their works by congesting in the office of Munyagwa like nursery kids.

Ssemujju Nganda, the opposition chief whip when reached for a comment on the matter, said that he is not aware that Among is still occupying that office. He said the rules of parliament must apply.

" I am going to forward the matter to the office of the clerk to intervene to make work easy for the new leadership to execute their duties because her tenure as vice chairperson expired,” Nganda said.

Nile Post contacted Among, who insisted she is not going anywhere. She said the office originally belongs to her since she got it before becoming COSASE Vice Chairperson

“You mean I came to parliament to sit in the corridors of parliament, I have an office in Bukedea but you can contact the office of sergeant at arms,” she said.
