Government to handover houses to mudslide affected victims in Bududa

Government has finalised the construction of the new houses that are to house the mudslide affected households from Bududa and the surrounding districts.

The project that has been constructed in Bulambuli district, is to be launched at the end of this month by President Museveni according to the Minister for General Duties in the office of the Prime Minister Mary Karooro Okurut.

Karooro made the revelation during an interface between the Presidential Affairs of parliament and officials from the Office of the Prime Minister.

The officials had come to defend their Ministerial policy budget statement for the financial year 2019/2020 of Shs 523 billion.

In the meeting Karooro Okurut informed the legislators on the committee that the construction of the new houses that are to house the mudslide affected households in Bulambuli is done.

According to the minister, those to be relocated will be given seedlings and monthly facilitation from government for a period of three months.

According to the documents seen by NBS TV, 320 households from Bududa will be relocated, 120 from Manafwa, 120 from Namisindwa and 120 from Sironko district.

In this same meeting some of the committee members were concerned with the affairs of the veterans who have up to now not been compensated.

In the OPM budget for next financial year Luweero and Rwenzori  regions have been allocated Shs 41 billion, Northern Uganda Shs 25.4 billion, Karamoja Shs 14.3 billion and Teso sub region Shs 7.7billion.

Shs 1.8 billion has been allocated for the Special programmes in Bunyoro sub-region while funds for Busoga sub region have not been included in next financial year’s budget.
