Museveni is already history- Muntu

Former army commander, Forum for Democratic Change(FDC) party President and now founder of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) party, Gen Mugisha Muntu has said he is confident that President Yoweri Museveni will be no more by 2021.

Muntu was speaking during an event in which Democratic Party (DP) was signing a coalition agreement with Social Democratic Party (SDP) of Michael Mabike and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Abed Bwanika.

The former army commander said that his new party has already made consultations with Democratic Party, People Power, JEEMA (Justice Forum), PDP and SDP on how to operate together for the common good, of disposing Museveni as well as maintaining change after achieving that goal.

“As far as I am concerned, Gen Museveni is already history. The main challenges are in the post Museveni period, because we are conversant with our history for the last 52 years. The change wont be the first one in this country but we must delve into reasons why even with change, the culture has always remained the same,” he said.

“We must focus on where we want to go, how we can get there and what has caused all others in the last 50 or more years to fail,” he added.

Muntu called for honesty and integrity amongst all political party leaders as well as transparency, urging that a coalition without such people may never be able to achieve its intended objectives.

Gen Muntu, the former FDC president, quit the largest Opposition party, alleging irreconcilable strategic disagreements on how to achieve regime change in Uganda.

On September 27, he unveiled the New Formation, a platform to prepare for the new party
