A team from State House yesterday arrested Dr. George William Bamudaziza, a medical doctor in Iganga after he allegedly aided an abortion of a school girl who died in his private clinic recently.
The team that carried out the arrest was led by the head of the State House Health Monitoring team, Dr Ojara William.
Dr Bamudaziza is the proprietor of Hope Medical Clinic where the deceased Mutesi Zaina died while carrying out an abortion. The deceased was in S.3 at undisclosed school in Iganga.
Dr Ojara said besides Dr Bamudaziza practicing illegal abortions which resulted into the death of someone, his clinic which is located at Iganga Main Street operates an illegal operation theatre and illegal laboratory.
Bamudaziza was picked from his clinic to Iganga CPS for questioning but he denied the charges.
Six other medical workers were summoned and questioned over the girl’s death.
They included the District Health Officer Dr David Muwanguzi, the District Drug Inspector Kibikyo Andrew and others.
According to Dr Ojara, Dr Muwanguzi is accused of failing to play his supervisory and monitoring role over Dr Bamudaziza and his clinic.
Before arresting Dr Bamudaziza last week, a team from State House under company of the RDC Iganga and Police stormed this very premise and closed it over the same concerns.
The team also visited Iganga Hospital for inspections and monitoring after they received several complaints about the drug theft in the hospital and misconduct of the medics.
