Magogo ‘disappointed’ in Cranes poor display as bribery claims get louder

Featured

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Moses Magogo, claimed he was very disappointed with Uganda Cranes abysmal display against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania on Sunday.

Uganda Cranes took in a drubbing by their Taifa Stars at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar Es Salaam to succumb to their worst defeat in the group L African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The result also ensured that Cranes, who finished the group atop would register their first defeat and fail to remain unbeaten throughout the campaign.

Going into the game, Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre assembled a different side, resting prominent squad members; Khalid Aucho and Murushid Juuko, but his tinkering only played into the hands of Taifa Stars who tore Cranes apart in front of over 30,000 home fans.

Simon Nsuva put the hosts in the lead just after 21 minutes. A second half penalty converted by Edward Erasto Nyoni made it two before Aggrey Morris put the game out of reach with a third and crucial goal for qualification.

Tanzania’s ability to snatch the necessary goals required against Uganda caused storm amidst Uganda Cranes fans on social media, most of whom claimed the FUFA top brass had cashed in to ensure Tanzania qualification as Uganda had not specific interest in the game.

Kasozi Tony exclaimed; What a shame! Cosase  and  Mrs Mulyagonja Should intervene!

Julius Onson Leon asked that FUFA president Moses Magogo provide accountability for such an unexplainable display by the Cranes

“Eng. Magogo There's a big indictment on you to explain to Ugandans especially those that traveled to TZ for the match how we did not concede a single goal from match day 1 then end up Swallowing 3 goals in the last game???  Here is why we think this match was fixed, First remember how you pocketed 600000 dollars in the Egypt world cup qualifiers game to have the pharaoh's sponsors advertise in Namboole stadium at the expense of the Cranes Main sponsors advertising space!!! Secondly your well orchestrated plan of camping in Egypt was just a cover up of your Sin. Then lastly how do you explain to Us How the best goalkeeper Denis Onyango could Dive stupidly to let in the opening goal??

If this Match was not fixed then show some seriousness by firing Desabre and writing to Fifa about the Referees officiation of the match.

This is inconceivable and treasonous, u should be behind bars for this or rather investigated by the investigative reporter Anas Anas of Ghana.

Jordan Tadeo:  The money given to players and the staff was given by Tanzania, so yesterday we were watching a sold game and this was clear to everyone who understands the football, so the team paid well but, even that money used in camp was some of the bribe given by Tanzania.

Magogo however in an explanation said he was equally disappointed with the display by the national team.

“This is the worst result of the Uganda Cranes in my administration. No one can feel more disappointed than me. As administration we provided everything the technical team and players wanted.”

Magogo maintained that;

  1. All allowances and outstanding bonuses were fully paid before the match.
  2. The coach asked for a camp in Egypt, we provided it
  3. The coach has full independent hand to select the team including the lineup. We have and will never interfere with the team callup and lineup
  4. Bonuses of 2500 USD per player for the win and 1500 USD for a 0-0 draw were announced before the match of Tz
  5. Despite NCS not providing the funds required, the FUFA Administration mobilized funds and cleared everything outstanding before the match.

“I want to listen to any explanation why it is not the coach and the team responsible for this dismal performance but the FUFA President and/or the administration. We are also football fans hurt by the bad results. We are also football fans sometimes in disagreement with the decisions of the coaches but we support them because they are the most technical,” Magogo said.

“Now is the time for the coaches to explain their selections and tactics but not before the match. We will wait for the technical explanations from the technical team of the match,” he added.
