Abim investigates missing Shs 12 million for PWDs

Leaders in Abim district have instituted a probe into the missing Shs 12 million that was meant to cater for the needs of People With Disabilities (PWDs).

The leaders told The Nile Post that the loss has left dozens of PWD’s struggling to access education and other services.

Patrick Olele a 17 year old disabled youth from Baro-tuke Central in Abim told us that his future was now bleak because the district has promised to get him money for a wheel chair and to learn technical skills since he repairs phones and radios for a living.

He uses his back to aid his movement.

The RDC Abim, Mpimbaza Hashaka, confirmed that a probe was underway.

Besides education, health is another area need where several humanitarian efforts are being made to improve the lives of PWDs.

The population census 2014, ranked Abim among districts with the highest number of PWDs.

Additionally, data captured in 2017 reveals that over 823 children are leaving with disability.
