Proline FC completes Star times FUFA Big league League double over Kira United

By Ritah Tugumisirize

Proline FC maintained their position atop the Rwenzori group of the Startimes FUFA big league with 5-0 humiliation of minnows Kira United at the Startimes stadium in Lugogo.

Shafiq Bisaso’s side won the first leg 5-2 but against Louis Kimuli’s side but the visitors were more suspect in the second meeting.

Just nine minutes into the game, Hakim Kiwanuka drew first blood for the hosts after breaking through the napping visiting backline to open way for floodgates of goals.

Four minutes later, Kiwanuka completed his brace from the spot, after Noordin Bunjo was brought down in the area.

In the 31st minute, Bunjo turned scorer as he capitalised on Kira United number one Hakim Sekitoleko’s error to give Bisaso’s side a 3-0 lead to take to the break.

The resumption was as one sided as the first stanza. In the 56th minute, Proline FC’s on form youngster Bright Anukani got to the end of Hakim Kiwanuka’s through-ball to slot home the fourth for his side and his seventh of the season in the country’s second tier.

There was time for Ivan Bogere to join the goal scoring party with a tap in 14 minutes to the clock to pile more misery on the subdued visitors.

Despite the whitewash, Proline FC boss Shafik Bisaso wasn’t impressed with his side’s performance.

“They have scored goals, but have played poorly, like at 50%. Am happy for the win and hope to maintain it till the final,” said Bisaso.

His downcast opposite number Louis Kimuli said the five goal defeat was a huge scare it keeps him flirting with relegation.

“The five goal defeat was a huge blow to us especially because we are trying to survive relegation. They beat us 5-2 in the first round and now added more five which is not okay but we shall work to correct the mistakes, to see that we bounce back in the relegation fight”, said Kimuli.

Proline stays top of the Rwenzori group with 33 points while Kira united is ninth with 12 points.

In one of the games played in the Elgon Group, Wakiso Giants failed to get revenge against Kyetume FC who dumped them out of the Uganda cup, as they played to a goalless draw at the Bugembe stadium.

The Purple Sharks however remain top of the pile with 33 points and are the only team yet to lose or conceded a goal at home across the country’s top two divisions

Attention now shifts to the Startimes Uganda Premier league that returns today with fourth placed URA FC taking on 5th placed BUL FC at the Mandela national stadium in a game to be televised live on Sanyuka TV.
