Police in Namisindwa is stuck with the body of a 40-year-old man after relatives disowned it. The man Charles Wakama was lynched by residents of Busimawolya village, Buwambingwa parish.

Busimawolya village is located in Namisindwa district.

Wakama was killed by the residents in Magale subcounty after they learned he had killed his father Blamuel Wabuyekha over a land dispute.

Father and son fell out after Wakama demanded that his father sell a piece of land. Wakama had reportedly sold a piece of land he inherited from his father Wabuyekha and spent the money he received for it.

Wakama now wanted his father to sell an additional piece of land. His father Wabuyekha turned down his request. Wakama had also accused his father of bewitching him.

An angry Wakama then attacked his father on Monday morning at about 11am. He hit his father on the head with pestle before going on to cut up his father’s body.

Angry residents led by clan members pursued Wakama and lynched him on spot. Police had to intervene to prevent the residents from burning Wakama’s body to ashes.

The clan heads told police to take away Wakama’s body as they would not permit it to be buried on their land. They strongly condemned Wakama’s action of killing his own father.

Last year three people were killed in a similar manner in the same area.
