Police makes arrests in Kyenjojo family massacre, say was revenge killing

The police have so far arrested five people in connection with the murder of five family members in Kyenjojo. Police is still hunting for other two suspects who are believed to be the masterminds of the killings.

The police in Kyenjojo working with a team from the flying squad and homicide department have so far arrested a one Balyeija Justus alias Yusi, his wife Akampasa Keli, Muhereza Lauben and his wife Sylvia Alinda. Allan Twaryahikayo was also arrested in in Kampala and transferred to Kyenjojo.

The two suspects still on the run are Alfred Byaruganga a councilor in whose home the plot to kill Joseph Tumwebaze’s family members was hatched. Emmanuel Kagurane is also still at large and the police is tracking the suspects down.

Preliminary investigations so far point to a family wrangle that dates back in 2012. ‘’From the preliminary inquiry the motive that we have establishing is a revenge attack, which arose in 2012 when Joseph Tumwebaze’s brother called Godfrey Ndyanabo had an altercation with the family of the suspects.’’

In the altercation, it is alleged that Ndyanabo killed a brother from the family of the suspects in 2012. Later on, Tumwebaze intervened on behalf of his brother as compensation for the loss of their relative. Ndyanabo was then freed.

On March 13, 2019, Joseph Tumwebaze family was attacked in his absence when he had gone for a business trip. His five children were all murdered in cold blood and his wife beaten into coma.
