Bulambuli: Government to hand over 101 housing units

The Uganda Police Force and the are in the final stages of completing the first batch of 101 housing units meant for resettlement of mudslide victims in Bunambutye, Bulambuli.

The site engineers have confirmed that the houses will be ready for handover in the next three weeks.

Julius Mucunguzi, the head of communications at the Office of the Prime Minister said relocation will start with the most at risk as soon as social amenities such as schools, health facilities and water are installed.

Construction of the second batch of 400 units is expected to kick off immediately beginning with social facilities.

Mucunguzi said government will immediately take over the vacated land for for restoration purposes.

Each of the beneficiaries will receive three acres of land including two for farming.

900 households with a total population of 6000 people have been earmarked for resettlement on in Bulambuli.
