Sweet revenge for Sam Ssimbwa as his URA FC upsets KCCA FC in Lugogo

By Ritah Tugumisirize

Sam Ssimbwa got the perfect revenge for the one nil loss to KCCA FC in the first round as his URA FC ended the Kasasiro boys' home unbeaten run this season in the startimes Uganda premier League.

The taxmen were as fierce as they came with a rare display of attack well balanced with defense against the side that ended theirĀ  unbeaten run at the Mandela National Stadium this same season.

The visiting captain Shafiq Kagimu, like he did in their last win against Kirinya Jinja SS, led by example with a fine finish in the 25th minute to put Ssimbwa's side forward.

The resilient KCCA FC tried to respond with several efforts through Mike Mutyaba but the tax collectors' number one James Alitho was always equal to the task.

The score stayed 0-1 at the interval.

In the second half, the organised URA did well to keep the hosts at bay for just over 20 minutes but high probing KCCA FC finally broke though to force a penalty which the captain Timothy Away stepped up to convert.

Timothy Awany scored from the spot to give the visitors hope for unbeaten home run defence but strike was not enough

End to end action ensued and eventually it was the visitors who got the reward, as striker Joachim Ojera was brought down in the forbidden area with 10 minutes left on the clock. The startimes stadium was sent into a shock attack.

Kagimu again stepped up to send his spot kick out of reach for the garbage Collecters' number one Charles Lukwago.

This was the URA FC skipper's fourth goal in two league games.

URA FC had condemned the 12 time Champions to their first loss at the startimes stadium this season, becoming only the second team after Vipers to beat KCCA FC at the Startimes stadium.

For the man of the match Shafiq Kagimu, he did as trained by his coaches and hopes such performances can land him a national team summon.

"Am happy about my form, it's the way my coaches are preparing me so well, always encouraging me to go into the box and score more goals. It is always every player's wish to join the national team and hopefully It will happen. "

The loss for KCCA FC and Vipers' goalless draw against Onduparaka in Arua meant that the gap between the table topping yellow lads and the second placed venoms is trimmed to three points.

KCCA FC is stuck at 45 points while Vipers has 42. URA FC stays 4th with 35points.

In the other games played, Maroons FC eased to a 3-0 win over bottom placed Paidha Black Angels', Kirinya Jinja SS beat Mbarara city 2-1 at the Mighty Arena, While Express edged Ndejje University FC 1-0 at the Arena of Visions in Luweero.

More action will continue today as Sports Club Villa takes on Police FC at the Mandela National StadiumĀ  in the live match on SANYUKA TV.
