Basalirwa: Kyanjo responding well to treatment, out of hospital

Justice Forum (JEEMA) President Asuman Basalirwa has said former party secretary general Hussein Kyanjo is making good progress in his treatment in India.

The Bugiri Municipality Member of Parliament Basalirwa revealed that he spoke to the ailing former Makindye West MP Kyanjo recently. Kyanjo told Basalirwa that he has been discharged from the hospital he was receiving treatment for stage 4 Colon Cancer.

Kyanjo is currently resident in a private home in Delhi. He commutes to the hospital to receive weekly treatment and review.

Basalirwa said that, "We expect the treatment process to take a period of two months." He said he was giving this update on Kyanjo's health because before the vocal MP set off for treatment, he instructed his closest associates not to hide information about his well being.

“You can only get information on the health condition of the Hon. Hussien Kyanjo from only me and Imam Kasozi,” Basalirwa said.

Kyanjo also instructed Basalirwa and others that he is to be buried immediately wherever he dies in order not to compromise his Islamic faith in the event that resources are not available to return his body in time.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija posted on his Facebook wall on 7th January parting words from Kyanjo that, "Don't cry, keep strong. One soldier down should not break the struggle. For that loss does not in any way strengthen the enemy. He will collapse.

I know that many people are hungry for property like land and arcades. They will go with nothing.

I only ask u that never sell out to the enemy, keep fighting."

Kyanjo has battled with Dystonia, a rare disease that eats up certain organs and muscles of the body.

For the last six years, he has had to get two toxin injections on the lower part of his jaws to keep the muscles in shape
