Wasswa Bbosa, Joel Mutakubwa scoop sports awards

Tooro united FC’S Coach Wasswa Bbosa and his number one Joel Mutakubwa were yesterday named the best footballers for January at the Real Sports Awards held at Khalifan suits in Bugolobi.

Boxer Yusuf Babu was named best boxer for the same month.

Tooro united’s number one Joel Mutakubwa has been rewarded for his stability in between the sticks for his club in January that saw him keep three clean sheets in as many Startimes Uganda premier league games that month.

The shots topper also saved three penalties as his side knocked defending champions KCCA out of the Uganda Cup.

Mutakubwa beat Mbarara city’s defender Hillary Mukundane and Police FC forward Juma Balinya for the prize.

His coach Wasswa Bbosa also edged Bul fc’s Peter Onen and Mbarara City’s tactician Livingstone Mbabazi for coach of the month award. The two shared the importance of these awards in their carreers.

Joel Mutakubwa Cobap Boxing Club’s Yusuf Babu who beat Lukanga’s Emma Kyambadde in the heavy weight category of the national open boxing championships also edged Mutajazi boxing club’s Adinan Yasin and East Coast’s Shadir Musa for boxer of the month.

He revealed that this was his first award in his career.

This was the fourth edition of the Real Sports awards.

In December, KCCA FC's Mike Mutebi and Allan Okello won coach and player of the year respectively, while Heathens’ captain Michael Wokorach was voted the best rugby player that month.
