This year’s corporate games set for next month

The 2019 edition of the Corporate Games is set for next month at the Mandela National stadium in Namboole, the organisers have announced.

According to Ian Rumanyika, the Corporate Games Uganda chairperson, this year’s edition will have over 30 companies participating in various sports disciplines including football, athletics, netball, volleyball, basketball, pool, wood ball, corporate runs and cycling among others.

Rumanyika highlighted the need for such games that he said are aimed at bringing together employees of various companies.

“We aim at bringing together corporate staff from various companies on a monthly basis to engage in various sporting activities and creating an environment where individuals from different organisations go to interact on a personal and team basis as well as networking in terms of businesses and at the end of the season an annual awards dinner,”Rumanyika said.

He noted that the games are also aimed at bringing together corporate companies from various sectors such as telecommunication, agriculture, insurance, banking, construction, beverage, legislators, education and media among others.

“The games also act as an external team building program for the member companies and help improve on the physical fitness of many employees who are tied up possibly for long hours behind their desks in the corporate world.”

He however warned that licensed players and non- working staff will not be allowed to participate in the games but urged organisations to register in big numbers of be part of the games set for next month.

Next Media’s NBS and Sanyuka TV are media and publicity sponsors to this year’s corporate games.
