Mbarara District officials awarding selves gov't land, houses; Raided by Anti Corruption unit

State House Anti Corruption Unit on Friday raided Mbarara District Head Quarters over complaints on allegations of corruption.

This followed a tip off from a whistle blower who accused district officials of allocating themselves all government staff houses and plots of land on Kamukuzi hill.

The whistleblower also reported that the Process of disposing off government property was done without approval of the council and in disregard of PPDA law, further more it was done with no openness and in conflict of interest.

Accordingly, among the beneficiaries of the ‘illegal process’ are Maj.Martha Asiimwe, a former RDC of Mbarara who allegedly allocated herself the official RDC house, and never handed it back when her term of office came to a close.

It is also alleged that Hon.Charles Ngabirano, MP Rwampara county illegally acquired a government property, housing the district veterinary Department with assistance of the district Chairperson and he has since sold the property to Mbarara Archdiocese.

District officials had also initiated a process to sell Kakyeeka stadium on top of misappropriating over shs360m meant for Koranorya road in Mbarara town.
