Fire has gutted Workers House which houses the National Social Security offices in Kampala.
The fire is said to have started about five minutes after 5:00pm according to NSSF communications team and witnesses. These claim that it started in the basement parking but couldn’t locate its cause.

“Today at about 17:05hrs, an alarm went off at Workers House as a result of smoke emanating from one of the basement floors of the building. Within a few minutes, the entire building has been evacuated. Police Fire Brigade has arrived on the scene. Situation is now under control,” a statement from NSSF states in part.
“We have confirmed that a fire started from one car on 3rd basement of Workers House at about 17:05 hrs today. An alarm thereafter went off. We immediately activated our Disaster Management Plan and evacuated the building. Police Fire Brigade on the scene. Situation under control,” NSSF continues.
