Police in Kasese has arrested two women for allegedly kidnapping a six year old pupil at Margarita Demonstration School in Kasese town.
The pupil, Jackline Kyomuhendo, went missing on Thursday last week.
The two were arrested this morning at around 3am from Silver Springs bar and lodge in Kasese town where they have been hiding since Thursday when they disappeared with the young girl.
Working on intelligence reports from the locals, police landed on Semeritah Kabugho 24 with the missing pupil.
Also arrested is Neveketty Kyakimwa 19 years who is said to have kidnapped the child and later handed her to Kabugho.
When asked to explain how she came to have the kid in her custody, Kabugho gave contradictory statements.
Dickson Okello, the DPC Kasese Central Police, confirmed their arrest and said the child has been given back to her parents for medical checkup.
He said he had done his best as a DPC to sensitise the teachers and parents on how they are supposed to handle their children especially the day scholars who move long distances to school.
Jackson Ndibalema, the father to the child said it took them five days of sleepless nights to search for their daughter.
“I am grateful to God what has happened. I also thank the police for not giving up on the search for my daughter,” Ndibalema said.
