Former Cranes captain Geoffrey Massa joins Police FC

Former Cranes captain Geoffrey Massa has joined Police Football Club not as a player but part of the coaching staff at the team, the Nile Post has learnt.

According to the club chairman, AIGP Asan Kasingye, Massa and former club captain David Yiga have joined the team to work together with head coach Abdalla Mubiru and his assistant.

“We know we were the only team without a former player or coaching staff to inspire young players. Massa is that football legend who played for Police FC and captained the Cranes. This will inspire young players,”Kasingye told the Nile Post.

“It is his own ambition to inspire and give back to his roots and will be with the team as long as he wants.”

Kasingye said the addition of both club legends is a great move towards greater heights in their bid to reclaim the Uganda Premier League title they last won in 2005.

Both Massa and Yiga were part of the Police FC team that won the league in 2005 and later went on to win the CECAFA club championship the following year.

Massa’s experience will greatly help in sharpening Police FC’s forwards.

Despite being good  going forward and scoring 27 goals, the team is however pathetic at the  back having let in the ball 30 times in the 17 games they have so far played in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League this season.

Police FC are currently 8th on 24 points.
