Cranes defender Walusimbi parts ways with Kaizer Chiefs, barely 6 months together

All is not well for Uganda Cranes defender Godfrey Walusimbi and his South African paymasters, Kaizer chiefs after the two parted ways, barely six months together.

In August last year, it was merry making for the pint sized defender who had joined the South African giants from Kenya.

“Kaizer Chiefs have completed the transfer of Godfrey Walusimbi from Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia. We welcome him to the Amakhosi Family,” the South African giants announced on their twitter on August 30.

However, the South African club has used the same platform to announce departure of the Ugandan defender barely six months at the club.

“Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with left-back Godfrey Walusimbi. The player has opted to go back home to Uganda,” the Amakhoi posted on their twitter on Thursday evening.

“We would like to thank Godfrey for his contribution to Kaizer Chiefs and wish him all the best.”

Despite signing a three year deal in August, the Ugandan defender only lasted five months at the South African club where he took part in only 13 games.

Walusimbi is not new to controversy after leaving DR Congo’s Don Bosco FC summarily having spent a short stint at the club in 2013.

He claimed a breach of contract by the Congolese side that forced him divorce them to join Gor Mahia in Kenya.
