A body of an unidentified female person has been discovered dumped in Entebbe, the Nile Post has learnt.
According to residents of Busambaga village in Katabi town council, the body of the unidentified woman was discovered by a child who was sweeping the compound on Monday.
It is said the deceased was last seen drinking at a local bar.
”At around 9am, a girl who was sweeping informed us that she had seen a body dumped in the compound,” said Fred Mugerwa, the secretary for defence for Busambaga LCI.
“The body was naked with only the blouse left on her body and also had scratches but had been covered with leaves.”
According to eyewitnesses, beside the deceased’s body were her belongings including her bag and shoes
Some residents said they had spotted the deceased who was not known in the area in one of the local bars on Sunday and when sniffer dogs were introduced they led police officers to the bar.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the death and said the body had been taken to the mortuary for a postmortem report as investigations into the matter continue.
The latest murder comes in the wake of the acquittal and subsequent release of a local businessman Ivan Katongole by court for lack of evidence in the murder of over 20 women in Wakiso areas in 2017.
Court blasted police for doing a bad job in investigating the case making it die right from the start.
“Prosecution witness 7, AIP James Mayiko arrested Katongole on instructions of the OC CID for Entebbe but did not do any investigations on the case.Detective Corporal Amina Barungi, the investigating officer for this case told this case she found all the allegations against the accused negative,” Justice Kwesiga said.
Justice Kwesiga said that he had analysed the evidence as given by senior police officers in the case and didn’t find anything good because none of the witnesses linked the accused to the murder.
