Youngster Babu announces entry into heavyweight category with win against Paul Kayondo

Former Bombers Captain Babu Yusuf of Copab Boxing Club announced himself to the rest of the heavyweight fighters that he is indeed a hard puncher.

Babu (85kgs) who has just graduated to the heavyweight category beat 91 kgs Kayondo Paul in a fight that excited the fans.

The 22-year-old showed his speed and precision, his quick fire combination punches landing regularly.

Kayondo kept trying to close the gap but was caught on the way with the tactical young sensational boxer.

Babu says it was an easy test for him because of his natural talent.

The budding boxer said, “Making it to the semi finals in the heavy weight category means a lot to me. Me being the youngest in my category doesn’t intimidate me because am natural born talent, I can beat anyone."

The boxers went toe to toe.

I believe am going to win my final fight and make it to the national team and be able to represent my country Uganda in the heavyweight category. And I believe if I represent my country in the heavy weight category I will bring many medals because internationally the heavyweight category doesn’t have many competitors."

Babu passed his first test as a first timer in the heavy weight category when he beat Zebra Boxing Clubs Kayondo Paul unanimously to cruise to the finals that will be played on the 3rd of February at MTN arena Lugogo where he will battle it out with Lukanga boxing club’s Kyambadde Emma.
