Deus Kamunyu was suspended 5 days ago by the Vice Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe on grounds that he was indisciplined and didn’t treat his fellow staff with respect.
Makerere University staff associations announce strike over suspension of colleagues
The suspension that didn’t go down well with his fellow staff who in turn decided to lay down their tools until the suspension is lifted.
On Thursday, the university administration and the association members were engaged in a 6 hour closed door meeting with hope that a lasting solution would be found.
According to the newly appointed acting head of communications in the Vice Chancellor’s office Dr, Muhammed Kiggundu by close of business Friday, the university will announce a way forward.
Muhammed Kiggundu said, “The meeting was fruitful, we discussed a lot and agreed that we need to seek a quick solution, so we have called for a joint press conference Friday at 2:30 PM to announce the outcome.”
