Mutebi unfazed by must-win stakes game against Otoho squad

After last week’s first leg away in Owando CongoBrazaville, the Uganda cup holders are under pressure ahead of Sunday’s task against the physical AS OtohoD’oyo if they are to qualify for this season’s CAF Confederation cup group stages.

KCCA FC now seeks to overturn 3-0 deficit from the first leg when they host the central Africans at the Startimes stadium where they haven’t lost in over 10 games on the continent.

Mike Mutebi’s side finds itself in an unfamiliar situation, in which they must win with at least four unanswered goals to guarantee a place in the group stages.

Mutebi’s is aware that belief is part of their many needs if they are to achieve this onerous task and he wasn’t shot of this during his pre-match press conference.

“We lost away to Otoho, not that we didn’t ask them questions, we did but they managed to score, which matters the most but that doesn’t mean we cannot overturn the deficit, we have the capacity to correct the result, we already have it in mind that we should score at least four goals and not concede, that’s the first task, my players have played with big clubs both home and away, they shall bring the confidence and experience on Sunday to ensure they win,” said KCCA FC gaffer.

Mutebi added that should they fail to proceed to the group stages, this will be marked a failed campaign.

Young star Julius Poloto reechoed his coach, asserting that the technical team has prepared the players enough with the belief that they can deliver the result they need on Sunday.

“The team is ready, the coach and the whole technical team have done enough to prepare us for Sunday and we are very confident we shall win and qualify to the CAF group stages,” said Julius Poloto.

The young and fresh legs of young star Peter Magambo Alias Machete will come in handy after the defender returned from injury.

The yellow boys could however miss the signature crosses from left back Mustafa Kizza who will have to pass a late fitness test, while midfielders Jackson Nunda and Ibrahim SadamJuma will play completely no part in the game due to injury.

AS OtohoD’oyo’s contingent of 80 arrived Friday morning aboard a chartered flight and held their first training session at Sunday’s venue on Friday afternoon.

Mutebi also admitted that the visitors are a more physical and reckless side but alluded to finding the antidote to tame them.
