One dead, five injured as Trailer collides with ambulance in Kampala

One person died on the spot and five others sustained injuries after a trailer collided with an ambulance along Queens Way, along Entebbe road in Kampala.

It is alleged that the accident that happened in the wee hours of Monday night saw the driver of  truck registration number UBE 164D driver decline to give way for the ambulance registration  number UBA 513B leading to a collision between the two vehicles.

Unconfirmed reports said two occupants of the ambulance died but Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson said that one person died on spot during the accident.

“One male person who is yet to be identified died on spot and the body has been taken to Mulago mortuary for postmortem whereas five people are believed to have sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Mulago hospital for treatment,”Owoyesigyire said.

He however said both drivers for the trailer and ambulance are currently on the run following the accident.

“Investigations into the exact cause of the accident have started,” he added.
