There was drama at 96.0 City FM in Jinja town on Friday when BET award winner Eddy Kenzo was humiliated by the radio manager.

Kenzo, who was in Jinja for his concert dubbed 10 years of Eddy Kenzo at Transafrica, visited the Lubas road based station to be hosted by his long time friend Richard Gidongo aka Detacha who was hosting the evening show.

Kenzo, who was in the company of other Jinja based radio presenters like David Muyita and Alpha Tymz, stormed the radio studio to promote his concert which was held the same day.

No sooner had the singer entered the radio studios than he was chased by the station Richard Kirya.

In an interview with Nilepost Richard Kirya revealed that he denied Eddy Kenzo airplay that day to promote his show on the radio because he didn't give them adverts.

"He paid big sums of money to other stations in Jinja to promote his show and he didn't consider us as official advertisers so that is the reason I chased him," Richard Kirya defended his action.

However, one of the workers who didn't want to be named for fear of reprimand by the bosses said the manager acted on orders from the radio owner Moses Kaliisa Karangwa, the Chairman NRM Kayunga district. Karangwa feared that Eddy Kenzo would promote People Power on his radio.

People Power is a growing idealogue fronted by Kyadondo legislator and musician Robert Kyagulanyi, better known as Bobi Wine.

"Karangwa himself called the manager and ordered that Kenzo should not be allowed on his radio," said our source.

When asked, the manager disputed this, "The director was away and I acted on my own. The reason is purely financial not political Richard Kirya aka Omuwulu said.

Detacha who was hosting on air confirmed the incidence.

"I don't know why my manager acted that way but since it was an entertainment show I invited Kenzo to greet our listners who are also his fans but I was surprised when the manager abruptly stormed the studio halfway the show and told me to stop," Detacha narrated.
