VIDEO: Two arrested over beating 'Ankole King' for allegedly receiving money from Museveni

Police in Mbarara yesterday surrounded the home of the self proclaimed King of Ankole Umar Asiimwe, arresting his father and the brother who are suspected to have assaulted him at the turn of the year.

The two; Edris Kamwesi (father) and Salim Tugume (brother) and others still on the run, allegedly beat up Asiimwe on 31st January, for allegedly receiving money from President Museveni and refusing to share it with them.

According to Kamwesi, he did not beat up his son. He instead claims that Asiimwe connived with his loyalists to break his arm.

“We don’t know anything about Umar (Asiimwe) and his money. We have never ever heard of it,” Kamwesi said.

“I came to ask what had happened, his loyalists instead jumped on me and started beating me, one of them hit me with a big stick on the arm,” Kamwesi added.

According to Asiimwe, those who beat him should face the law and the government ‘should chase them from my palace’.

“The government should also give me security in this case.”

Caretakers say Asiimwe is improving steadily save for a bad headache and pain in his left eye.
