Former TP Mazembe and Democratic Republic of Congo Robert Kidiaba has been elected Member of Parliament in the country.
During the polls that saw opposition politician Felix Tshisekedi elected president, Kidiaba on the other side was declared the duly elected MP for Upper Katanga in Lubumbashi City.
The 42 year old shot stopper who retired from active football in 2015 to join politics under the opposition National Party for Democracy and Development became popular for his bum-hop celebrations that enthralled and at the same time baffled soccer fans in DRC.
Kidiaba who also helped TP Mazembe win three CAF Champions League trophies is also the assistant coach for the club.
The 42-year-old also played for the country’s national football team nicknamed the Leopards.
He joins other famous Africa footballers like George Weah who have joined active politics.
