Wakiso Giants pile more misery on Entebbe FC

Allan Kabonge’s Entebbe FC came into this game with only one win in nine games while the Visitors carried their near perfect record to Wankuluku.

The Purple Sharks were the only unbeaten side in the country’s second top tier coming into the tie.

Simon Wafula flattered the home side with an early strike in the 13th minute but their joy could only last so long. Before the interval, former Sports Club Villa and Lweza FC midfielder Abdul Kareem Kasule pulled Ibrahim Kirya’s side level out of nothing as what look like a cross from the right landed in the far corner of Noel Bayiga’s goal to ensure parity at the break.

It was an even game with both sides making constant inroads to the opposite end keeping both shot stoppers busy.

But lady luck perhaps had come with the visitors as in the 59th minute Wakiso’s target man Geoffrey Luutu dribbled through a Entebbe’s defence to put his side in the lead for the first time in the game.

Entebbe tried to forge a come back but there wasn’t time for an equalizer as it stayed 2-1 at the final whistle.

Wakiso’s coach Ibrahim Kirya, believes his team won but the performance was wanting citing the missed chances.

"We have won this game but my players' performance was wanting. They missed several chances that would have resulted into so many goals," he said.

His opposite number Allan Kabonge, believes the poor performance of his team was the reason they lost but also showed reservations about the officiating.

"The players didn’t play as they were told, how can you put set pieces even when you see they are not necessary the performance was so poor, said the frustrated Kabonge. The officiating too was wanting,” he added.

Wakiso Giants remain unbeaten in nine games in all competitions and remains top of Elgon group with 19 points, 11 ahead of eighth placed Entebbe FC in the Elgon group of the Startimes FUFA Big league.
