The office of the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations has dispelled social media reports that the First son, Maj Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, was involved a bar brawl and alleged chaotic scenes at Sky Lounge in Kampala.
According to the official spokesperson, Maj Chris Magezi, the reports making rounds on social media alleging the first son bullied, let alone led to instant commotion at the premises are lies only aimed at misrepresenting what exactly happened.
“Our office has been alerted to some falsehoods circulating on social media about the cross over to 2019 celebrations at a venue called Sky lounge in Kampala. These falsehoods concern Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba……these are lies intended to spite and project a negative image of what was otherwise a happy occasion he attended,” a statement from Magezi reads in part.
Magezi claims that the venue was packed with people happy and enjoying the new year celebrations and no standing room was available. Thus there was thus no alleged pushing and shoving intended by anyone.
“On the contrary all the people were squeezing in to find standing space.”
“There were many people at the venue who were happy Gen. Keinerugaba joined them to welcome the new year including the jokes about the ‘red berret’. What has been taken out of context on social media is that there were friends and colleagues all joking with him about the red cap, and him playfully insisting on wearing it since he regularly dons this as an army officer any way,” Magezi said.
“Therefore, nobody intended or pushed anyone in out of the venue on account of a cap or dress code. It is absurd that a joke is politicised and made an issue,” he added.
The First Son reportedly lasted 30 minutes at the premises before leaving in company of his colleagues. His office maintains that during his stay, there was neither chaos nor any commotion as has been portrayed by a section of people on social media.
A tweet by a one ands JEFF under handle @andsJeff alleged that the First Son entered Sky Lounge with a flock of ladies and “started feeling like he owns earth, his SFC guards started chasing lads from tables so that his flock could get where to sit but one error404 guy couldn’t take it, the place turned into a market for sometime.”

He adds:
“One guy was putting on a People Power Beret and Muhoozi Kainerugaba wanted him thrown out of the Bar, the standoff followed and music was stopped. This ‘childish’ impunity needs to stop if we’re to move forward as a country.”
However, a number of people on social media have as well dismissed JEFFs story angle, with most claiming the First Son has had a perfect record with people in such situations.
“Muhoozi Kainerugaba Is humble, down to earth and a generous man, He socialises and interacts with all kinds and sorts of people,” a one Kyarisiima Israel claimed.
“All i see is people chanting in happiness to see the Gen and him interacting freely with people,so where is the beret guy being thrown out or the scuffle u claim?,,, So u mean in the Uganda u dream of soldiers or first family should never interact with locals?” Jonah Ruhima.
A one Bandi Ivan argued: “Firstly that video shows nothing like confrontation but rather some guys narrative who posted it, Gen Muhoozi is not only one of the most disciplined officers in the force but also a very decent and peaceful human being, something people in the opposition have not taken to well.”
Sultan R Edmand: “But I have encountered Muhoozi many times hes never causing commotion he even hides in his caps,”
Justus Amanya Joshua: “The problem with the current situation in Uganda is everything is interpreted and perceived POLITICALLY . I personally commend Muhoozi’s restraint . I know many of us can kill if provoked by the gushes of the obscenities that he bore- if you possess the kind of power and authority he does. I don’t have to agree with his father or him to defend his rights. If we’re rights defenders, why can’t we think that even those we disagree with have rights?
But Besiima N Remmy thinks otherwise: “This is not news, last year he spent a night in jail in Dubai over similar circumstances.dude is a jerk.”
