Eng Kitaka appointed acting KCCA executive director

The Minister for Kampala Beti Kamya has appointed Eng Andrew Mubiru Kitaka as the acting Executive Director for Kampala Capital City Authority to replace Jennifer Musisi who resigned recently, The Nile Post has learnt.
According to KCCA spokesperson, Peter Kaujju, Kamya appointed Kitaka in an acting position until a substantive person has been appointed by the president.
“The minister has assigned him the duties of the Executive Director until a substantive appointment has been made, Kaujju told the Nile Post in a phone interview.
He added that Kitaka was seen as the suitable candidate for the position having been at KCCA for over seven years since 2011 when Musisi took over the position.
In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, Kamya also confirmed Kitaka’s appointment.
“To ensure
continuity and smooth running of the city, I have assigned duties of Executive
Director to Eng.Andrew Kitaka Mubiru who is substantively the Director
Engineering and Technical Services at KCCA,”Kamya said in a statement.
In the statement , Sam Sserunkuuma has also been retained at the KCCA Deputy ExecutiveDirector.
Speaking during her handover ceremony on Friday, Musisi warned against tampering with the team she has left behind,urging that they should be given time to deliver better results.
“If the management team at KCCA is supported and given time to continue with their work, they can further develop the city,”Musisi said onFriday.
In response, Kamya allayed fears of a gap left behind by Musisi’s departure saying she has left behind a competent team that will handle work at KCCA.
“She has left behind a committed team and I assure everyone that there will be no gap in service delivery in Kampala. Work will continues smoothly,”Kamya said.
