Uganda Cup: KCCA pitted against Amuka as Kyetume takes on UPDF

The draws

for the 45th edition of the Uganda Cup have seen defending champions

pitted against northern Uganda side Amuka Bright Stars, the Nile Post has

learnt.

The drawsheld on Monday morning at Serena Hotel in Kampala also saw emerging  Big League giants  and  Mukono based Kyetume FC, also nicknamed theslaughters, pitted against army side UPDF in the  2018/19 Uganda Cup round of 64  that kicks off on Tuesday December 18.

Prize

money increased

The prize money for winners at various stages in the Stanbic

Uganda Cup has also been increased from shs90 million to shs120 million.

The winners

of the tournament will now walk home with shs40 million and shs.20 million whereas

semifinalists and quarter finalists will get shs10 million and shs5 million respectively.

Clubs eliminated

at the round of 16 stage will walk home with shs.2.5 million.

Speaking

after the draws, FUFA president Moses Magogo said such a tournaments go a long

way to develop the game the football in the country.

“Our Vision as FUFA is to become the top footballing

nation in Africa. The mission is to develop the game through such competitions,”Magogo

said.

“The

increased financial resource in terms of prize money is a sign of confidence

that external stakeholders in form of sponsors have in FUFA. We shall organize

a much better competition.”

Express FC and KCCA FC  on ten times are the most successful teams in the second most prestigious competition in Ugandan football that startedway back in 1971.
