Museveni to RDCs, CAOs: If you don’t clean this country of corruption, I will clean you

President Museveni has threatened to sack RDCs, CAOs and Gisos, accusing them of failure  to monitor government programs as well as fight corruption.

A concerned Museveni noted there is massive encroachment on wetlands as local leaders look on, citing examples in Luwero and Nakaseke districts.

President Yoweri Museveni’s threats were made during the end of year dinner for the office of the president that attracted; Minsters, Members of Parliament, undersecretaries, RDCs, presidential advisers, and other top civil servants.

A tough talking Museveni warned authorities at local levels to do their work diligently before he strikes at them.

‘’ You have no excuse for not cleaning the country, and if you don’t clean the country I will clean you; so please there is no reason there is no excuse at all and we did all this deliberately, there was a lot of corruption during the time of the British and that’s why we created such units to deal with that’’

The president accused RDCs and security officers of failing to monitor government work while drugs continue to be stolen in government health facilities without any repercussion.

‘’Why should anything go wrong in that area and no action is taken, there is no reason because the structure is up to the grass root, therefore with you there the stealing of drugs from health centres should not happen.’’

He says Gombolola Internal Security Organisation (GISO) officers should always be on high alert and also lead the fight against corruption at the local level.

The president also warned his staff against leaking vital information to the media.

The minister for presidency Esther Mbayo, noted with concern the poor facilitation to Resident District Commissioners. She asked the president to prevail over this matter since they have failed with the ministry of finance.

She also reported the developments in the office of the president in the last three years that have seen the revamping of the Uganda Printing and Publishing cooperation among others.
