The 8th edition of the Friday Night Lights(FNL) Basketball was launched Thursday, 8th November, at Panamera Bar in Naguru-Kampala
The basketball tourney is a fun filled event that gives basketball fans a chance to play with or against their favourite National Basketball league players in Uganda.
In this edition, the 3×3 format will be used unlike the 5×5 that has been used for the past 7years. The FNL Basketball managing director Tom Ocamringa said the changes are to make the event more entertaining and fun filled.
“This year’s version is going to be unique from the rest of the editions. It’s going to be a 3×3 set up where we are going have a more wonderful experience that will be entertaining and fun filled for everyone who comes to watch the Friday Night Lights Basketball,” said Tom Ocamringa.
Team Ikong( Joseph Ikong), Team Josh( Josh Johnson), Team Enabu( Jimmy Enabu), Team Flirsh( Flavia Oketcho) and Team Zama (Jamila Nansikombi) are among the 10 teams that will participate in this year’s edition.
Josh Johnson guaranteed an exciting tournament.
“The fact that this is a new setting, Its going to be one of the biggest FNL’s ever. The fans are going to enjoy, we have teams that will put the crowds on their heels.” Team Josh Captain, Johnson Josh told the press.
Each team will be composed of 3 NBL players, 2 ladies and three fans to make 8players while the 3 on court will have one male professional player, one female and one basketball fan.
The Friday Night Light Basketball will kick off this Friday, 9th November to 14th December and will resume on 11th January 2019 after the festive season. The finals will be played on 15 January 2019.
