Kadaga tips Kamuli women on NSSF loans

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has advised women leaders in Kamuli district to take interest in the forthcoming National Social Security Fund (NSSF) loan scheme.

Kadaga said the scheme which will be launched in the coming month will benefit women especially  those in the agriculture sector.

“I want to encourage you to apply for the NSSF fund as soon as you hear of the launch in November” she said.

She pledged support to the women council program on keeping the girl child in school saying “we cannot exhaust the talk on the need to keep girls in school. We are going to start manufacturing reusable sanitary towels at Nawanyago Technical Institute to enable girls keep in school”

The national chairperson of the women council, Faridah Kibowa asked the speaker to push government to increase funding for the women councils saying they are financially restrained to carry out their mandate.

“We want Parliament to legislate on increasing funds for women council, the current funding is limited, we don’t want to be like previous councils whose term expired without substantial impact” said Kibowa.

Kadaga pledged to engage the city tycoon Ham Kiggundu to facilitate financial literacy seminars for women council members in in the district.

In a related event, Kadaga officiated at the Independence Day celebrations at Bugeywa Primary School Kamuli district where she warned district leaders not to engage in corruption.

“I have heard that Kamuli District Service Commission sells jobs. I warn you, I am not going to tolerate this corruption, I will report you for investigation” said Kadaga

She also spoke about the allegations that Kamuli Hospital had sold mattresses, beds and other medical equipment that she donated recently.
