Besigye blasts police for arresting man who hosted him

The Forum for Democratic Change and opposition strongman Dr Kizza Besigye has blasted police for acting with impunity when they arrested a man who hosted him at his home.

Police in Nabweru on Wednesday arrested Suleiman Luzze, 44 for hosting Dr.Kizza Besigye at his home.

“They told me I had been arrested for hosting Besigye at my home,” said the father of four.

According to documents seen by the Nile Post, Luzze was charged with holding an unlawful assembly.

On Thursday morning, Besigye stormed the police station seeking answers in regards the arrest of one of the FDC supporters.

“While at a friend’s home, police came saying we were having an illegal meeting. Police would later say I was an important person who had to inform them in case of my visit,”Besigye said.

“After leaving, I was told Luzze had been arrested overcharges I don’t know. When I sent emissaries, he had already been detained," he said.

Besigye said it was unfortunate that police is arresting people and detaining them over unknown charges.

The opposition strongman wondered why he has to inform police before visiting any of his friends in any part of the country yet it is his constitutional right.

“I protest this impunity and I am going to consult my lawyers to see what to do with it. It is impunity that we have police hell bent on laws of the country,”Besigye said.

This comes days after Besigye received his Toyota Prado TX that police in Kasangati had impounded for four years.
