Police have started investigations into the murder of Arch Rwego,a sales manager with Boma Tiles and also husband to Dora Rwego, a sister to police CID Director Grace Akullo.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Area police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened on Tuesday night at around 3am when three unknown assailants jumped into Rwgo’s home in Kira zone, Kira Municipality, Wakiso district.
“They took advantage of the heavy downpour, cut the razor wire and jumped over the fence into the home,”Owoyesigyire told the Nile Post.
CID spokesperson Vincent Ssekate noted that on entering, the thugs armed with knives and iron bars stabbed a dog found at home before breaking into the behind door of the house and got keys left in the door to access the couple’s bedroom.
“On seeing the assailants, the deceased tried to put up resistance prompting them to stab him seven times in the head, two times in the left shoulder and once in the chest using a sharp object before he collapsed. He died on arrival at Najjera hospital,”Ssekate told this website on phone.
It is believed that the assailants took advantage of the heavy downpour to wreak havoc without the neighbours of the victims realizing what was happening.
Ssekate added that the thugs walked away with a TV set and two bags belonging to the deceased’s wife and an unspecified amount of money that was in the bags.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police mouthpiece added that on introduction of the sniffer dogs, it was found out that the assailants had waited at a certain place for a long time before storming the house.
“The canine led experts to a place where the assailants took a long time while hiding and waiting to carry out their mission,”Owoyesigyire said.
He said that blood samples and fingerprints had been taken from the scene of crime to help in police investigations.
He however urged the public to always call police in case of any attack in their homes.
