Deputy Speaker Oulanyah visits hospitalised MP Francis Zaake, Bobi Wine

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, has called upon the people of Kisoro to distance themselves from persons who use violence to achieve their goals.

Oulanyah also called on the Bafumbira to love and take care of each other in order to co-exist.

“You are because I am. If I am because you are; why do we fight?” Oulanyah asked.

The Deputy Speaker was officiating as chief guest during the fundraising to construct a secondary school for Gisorora Church of Uganda in Kisoro district on Saturday, 13 October 2018.

“Do we like violence?” to which the locals replied, ‘No’,. “Then let’s stop it, discourage it and anybody who comes saying let’s do something bad, tell them that they have no place in Kisoro,” Oulanyah said.

To support the construction of the secondary school, Oulanyah contributed shs3 million. He later auctioned a goat at shs 601,200.

Rev. Canon Mbitse Godfrey, the Archdeacon, Muhabura Diocese, said shs250 million is needed to complete the school.

“The reason we started this secondary school is because we don’t have any nearby schools and the community cannot afford to take their children to boarding schools because they are poor,” said Rev. Mbitse.

Mbitse says the school started in 2014 using Gisorora primary school classrooms. The fundraising is aimed at constructing five classrooms.

Hon. James Nsaba Buturo, the Bufumbira County East MP, where the Church of Uganda Secondary School is located, pledged shs15million on behalf of all MPs from Kisoro district.

“We want this school to be one of the model schools in Kisoro district,” Nsaba Buturo said.

He applauded the Bafumbira for getting involved in the construction of the school both financially and physically.
