CPS DPC Bakaleke, 50 others transferred in new police changes

The Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola has transferred a number of senior police officers in new changes in the force, the Nile Post has learnt.

In an October 15 message to all units by the director in charge of Human Resource and Administration, a total of 54 police officers have been transferred to various stations around the country.

According to the transfer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Joseph Bakaleke Gwaido who has been the DPC for the Central Police Station in Kampala has been transferred to Kiryandongo as DPC.

Bakaleke has been at the heart of a number of police operations in the city centre especially quelling riots and the most recent ones were during the mobile money and social media tax recently.

He personally participated in the arrest of some of the protesters who had thronged Kampala road on their way to parliament.

Bakaleke also personally arrested DP president Norbert Mao as he tried to march to parliament at the height of the Age limit debate.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Jackson Mucunguzi, who was formerly in charge of Makerere university police station and has been on course has been transferred to Jinja road police station as the DPC to replace Superintendent of Police Eliau Osega who has been transferred to Lamwo.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Samuel Bamuzibire who has been in the police Field Force Unit has been appointed the commander of 999 system.

Bamuzibire, who was then the FFU commander for Kampala in 2016 was among the police officers demoted by the police disciplinary court for assaulting supporters of opposition strongman Dr.Kizza Besigye.

The transfers have also seen Senior Superintendent of Police, Peter Nkulega transferred from Rwenzori region to North Kyoga as Regional Police Commander whereas SP Moses Ekudot who has been on course has been sent to Apac as DPC.

The transfers according to the message take immediate effect.
