Sarah Kagingo voted PRAU president

Senior communication specialist Sarah Kagingo  and chief exceutive officer of Softpower communications has been elected as the new president for the Public Relations Association of Uganda for the next two years.

Kagingo who got 51 votes beat UMEME’s David Birungi who managed to get only 17 votes of the total votes cast during polls held at Fairway hotel during the PRAU Annual General Meeting on Saturday.

Speaking shortly after the polls, Kagingo applauded fellow members for entrusting her with the body’s leadership before promising not to disappoint them.

“You have made the bold and right decision and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you. The journey to put into action every item on our manifesto beings now,”Kagingo said.

She however welcomed everyone to join hands to work together as a team to uplift the body.

Other members elected include: Val Oketcho as Vice president, Eddie Oketcho (Secretary General), Sheila Naturinda(Deputy Secretary General) and Charles Nsamba as the treasurer.

Others were UEGCL’s Simon Kasyate as the director in charge of public relations, Sumin Namaganda (Director programs) and Alfred Geresom as the director in charge of disciplinary.

Standard Chartered Bank Uganda’s Cynthia Mpanga is the outgoing president for PRAU having completed her two year term in May.

PRAU is the umbrella body that brings together public relations practitioners in the country.
