Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi’s (Bobi Wine) wife Barbie Itungo claims that her husband was beaten by security officers while being transported from Entebbe International Airport on Thursday night, August 30, 2018.
MP Kyagulanyi was stopped at the airport by Uganda Police Force officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) while attempting to board a flight. The ailing Kyagulanyi was scheduled to fly to Washington DC, USA for treatment for injuries he incurred during his August 13, 2018 arrest.

Kyagulanyi claims he was badly beaten by the Special Forces Command officers who arrested him from his Pacific Hotel room in Arua. SFC are charged with guarding the president. President Yoweri Museveni has however since come out to refute the legislator’s claims that he was tortured by the SFC officers.

Below is Barbie Kyagulanyi’s full Facebook post on what happened on Thursday night in Entebbe.
“Bobi has been violently arrested by Security forces at Entebbe airport as he was heading to Washington, USA for treatment even when he has clearance from court to travel. He has a medical report from Lubaga hospital recommending urgent medical treatment abroad.
He told me that as soon as they closed the ambulance doors, he was again brutally beaten in front of a government doctor. They switched off the lights in the ambulance and started battering him! Bobi is now back in pain and he is dumped at Kirudu hospital.
He has missed his flight and time is running out. There is something we’re not getting. By denying him access to medical treatment, do they need him disabled for life?
We also strongly object to their doctors forcefully trying to administer treatment or draw samples from him. The same people who have acquiesced in torturing him cannot be trusted with his body.”
