Police block Bobi Wine from flying out for treatment; forced back to Kampala

The Police have blocked Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine from flying out of the country for further treatment.

Kyagulanyi who was among the 34 people arrested over the Arua chaos in which President Museveni’s convoy on August 13 before being charged with treason.

On Thursday afternoon, the lawmaker checked himself out of the Rubaga hospital where he was receiving treatment for the last two days and according to sources, he was carried out by people close to him, through the rear gate of the hospital.

However, on reaching Entebbe airport, Kyagulanyi, who was being wheeled on a stretcher by medics was stopped from continuing with his intended journey by police that had earlier deployed heavily at the airport.

He was later put into a police ambulance together with Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake and are  currently being driven and escorted by police back to Kampala.

Police is yet to comment on the circumstances surrounding the Kyagulanyi’s blockade.

The Nile Post had earlier been reliably informed that the singer cum politician was headed to the airport where he was expected to be on flight for further treatment at Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi, Kenya.

Kyagulanyi’s blockade comes on the backdrop of the arrest of fellow lawmaker Francis Zaake who had also been flying out of the country and blocked before being arrested by police.
