Cranes defender Walusimbi joins South African giants Kaizer Chiefs

Uganda Cranes defender Godfrey Walusimbi has officially joined South African giants Kaizer Chiefs, the Nile Post has learnt.

The Premier Soccer League club also nicknamed Amakhosi on Thursday afternoon announced the signing of the left back from Kenyans champions Gor Mahia on the official social media accounts.

“Kaizer Chiefs have completed the transfer of Godfrey Walusimbi from Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia,”the South African giants announced on their twitter.

“We welcome him to the Amakhosi Family.”

The 29 year old pint sized left back has penned a three year deal that will see him at the club until June 2021.

According to the club official website, the club’s Manager Bobby Motaung said Walusimbi’s addition was a good move for South Africa’s former league champions.

“It has been an engaging process to finalise this move. At the end we are happy the process has been completed, and the player is available to play. We wish him all of the best with us,”Motaung told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

Prior to joining Gor Mahia, Walusimbi played locally for SC Villa and later joined DR Congo’s CS Don Bosco .

He is set to don jersey 29 in South Africa.

Walusimbi becomes the third  Ugandan to ply his trade  for the Amakhosi after earlier stings by David Obua and Ivan Bukenya.
