President Yoweri Museveni who is also the National chairman of the ruling NRM party has commended the high skills and discipline that was exhibited by the Special Forces Command (SFC) in containing the Arua fracas that saw the stoning of one of his convoy cars.

Museveni laid down the genesis of the Arua fracas which has since condemned the Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Butebi Zaake to a hospital bed in excruciating pain.

According to state minister for planning, David Bahati who was also part of the caucus meeting, the president was all praises for the elite force that guards him, for containing supporters of youthful MP, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine.

“The president briefed us what happened in Arua and said the investigations are still going and due court process will take its course. He appreciated the professional manner in which SFC handled the situation because it would have been worse if they (SFC) hadn’t intervened professionally,” Bahati said.

Minister Bahati also disclosed that the president explained to legislators on how the two legislators; Robert Kyagulanyi and Francis Zaake resisted the arrest and instead decided to box the army officers.

To the president this could have been the source of the two legislators getting injured.

The president’s briefs to the NRM Caucus has received mixed reactions from the so called NRM rebel Mp’s who were left out of the meeting.

“The army and SFC are supposed to be better equipped to even quell standoffs, supposed there was a standoff between them and the MPs, these SFC boys are well trained commandos who know how to apply maximum or minimum force which does not amount to torture,” John Baptist Nambashe (Manjiya County MP) said.

Sources from State house meeting also indicated that president Museveni questioned the legislators on the adhoc Committee why they did not consult him yet was one of the key prime witness in the investigations after his convoy was attacked.
