Museveni: “We should halt creation of new districts to save money”

President Museveni interacts with youth

Gerald Baganzi

Dear Jajja,

I bring you greetings from all your Bazukulu, we as generation 86 (people born from 1986 – to-date) have since agreed to be your Bazukulu and listen to all your advice as our old man.

Grandpa we also wish to extend our sincere greetings to grandma and all our brothers and sisters there with you, send them our most sincere love.

Grandpa this is my first ever letter to you but will not be the last as we shall use this same space to communicate and exchange ideas as we forge ways of improving the relationship between you and the stubborn Bazukulu. As DE FACTO head of Bazukulu my letter will partly rotate around the series of events that have taken headlines over the last three weeks.

Grandpa first and foremost I want to commend you for the peace and stability we have enjoyed since birth that most of our stubborn brothers and sisters have since taken for granted. Jajja as you are aware the population of Bazukulu has greatly increased from 1986 to-date and this has come with very many challenges among which unemployment takes lead.

My fellow Bazukulu, unemployment is a global problem and according to statistics affects the Bazukulu generation mostly.

Unemployment and poverty go side by side but this should be blamed mostly on the Bazukulu who have since preferred white collar jobs which cannot accommodate all of us.

It’s at this point that I want to commend you grandpa for the various initiatives you have put in place for your Bazukulu which include affordable loans through the YOUTH LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM, various presidential initiatives on skilling young people among others.  Grandpa however you have put much emphasis on the girl child leaving your male Bazukulu on the line. Jajja these can be skilled in various fields like carpentry, mechanics, building and construction, welding and metal fabrication, brick laying etc.

Young people after a long time of unemployment become desperate and end up as soft targets for opportunists who use them with promises to help them earn some money. Grandpa this is evidenced in the various riots around major urban areas where youth have been seen as the major participants. Most of these always under influence of drugs which are provided by these selfish leaders.

Grandpa your Bazukulu have involved in riots and violent demonstrations because most have been given alcohol or marijuana and are therefore doing this under influence.

These young people have been indoctrinated by these selfish leaders who  we understand are financed by European masters that the only way they can see change in this country is through shading blood thus the various incidents during by-elections most of which are premeditated by these sycophants.

We shall however not let this happen, you and a couple of your friends already paid a price for this country, you sacrificed for the generation 86 something we should never take for granted. The peace and security we have enjoyed since birth up-todate is a treasure that we should guard jealously and never should we let anyone try to drag us to the times we never witnessed.

The government and individuals should take proper steps to solve the unemployment problem, we shouldn’t leave the burden to the government alone. For example one of the causes of unemployment is a mismatch of skills.

Let’s change our education system. Bazukulu who have liking for higher education should be admitted in universities but maximum emphasis should be put on vocational studies.

Government should also give more assistance to self employed Bazukulu through small accessible loans and grants, raw materials, technical and financial literacy training.

We thank all those who participated in the liberation struggle and may the blood of those who passed on during this struggle not be in vain. Let us cherish the peace and stability we have as a country and solve all of our problems through dialogue.
