KCCA win inaugural Super 8 tournament to catapult them to new season

Uganda Cup champions KCCA FC were catapulted into the new 2018/2019 season by winning the inaugural Super 8 tournament in finals played at the Wankulukuku stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Two goals in a space of four minutes in the first half were enough to ensure the Kasasiro boys beat Onduparaka FC and lift the inaugural tournament.

Sadam Juma curled a free kick on 32 minutes to give the Lugogo based side the lead before fast rising youngster Allan Okello slotted the ball through Nicholas Ssebwato’s legs for KCCA’s second and final goal of the day.

Speaking shortly after the game, KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi said his team is improving day by day adding that this gives him hope as the new season begins.

“Having better players, better tactical discipline and being fitter did us well and I think this game was a precursor as we play against Al Ahly,”Mutebi noted.

New Onduparaka coach Asaph Mwebaze however noted that lack of enough preparation coast hi team.

“The difference between us and them was that they have been playing but we have just come back to training and putting together players. They (KCCA) were playing mode as we were only trying to get there,”Mwebaze said.

KCCA will on Tuesday play against Egyptian giants and record winners Al Ahly in their last Caf Champions’ League Group A game.
